Kolkata Classical Music Circle (KCMC)

Kolkata Classical Music Circle (KCMC) The idea of KCMC was conceived to establish a forum for having a concert platform which is free from usual mafia influence and MusiPolitics. The latest initiative is to organize Private Baithaks / Sangeet Sabha / Small Mehfils featuring quality music in private spaces (gharoA ashoR - as said in Bengali). Currently KCMC is in its start up phase and is  focused on Indian Classical Music . Requesting interested musicians to contact for performances. Also requesting interested music lovers to contact to get enrolled in our email list for getting the latest updates and upcoming concert schedule. The relevance of such a platform is well explained by my friend Sarod Player Shuvo Deb in in his article published in this link . Musicians Need to be Paid Too

Highly recommended article for my fellow musicians. Sometime or the other every musician has been requested to perform for free. Before deciding to go it or not, please refer the article below.  http://www.musicianwages.com/when-to-take-an-unpaid-gig/ Mr. Andrea Vicari wrote this article on Olympic which you can send to the person who asks you to perform for free.

The requirement for such a portal was felt long back.  Information that is available on this subject in the public domain is extremely rare.  As the very first step of the project, here is the consolidation of all the ragas to be discussed in this forum. The authentic ragas are included in the list as of now. Any suggestions on amendment / exclusion / change in classification - are welcome.
