Edinburgh Concert: 4th May 2014

Indian concert fundraiser

INDIAN music promoters Tabla Alba are staging a fundraising concert in honour of Guruji BKS Iyengar, who has become the first yoga instructor to be awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the Indian government. The award is made to citizens who give exceptional distinguished service to the community and proceeds from the concert will go to the village of Bellur, where Iyengar, now aged in his nineties and one of the world's leading yoga instructors, has been working to eradicate poverty for decades. The concert features the respected sitarist Ramprapanna Bhatta Charya accompanied by Vijay Kangutkar on tablas and takes place at Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre, Bruntsfield Place, on Sunday, May 4, at 5pm.
