Suggestion to Beginner Sitar Aspirants to avoid left hand injury

 *Smart Practice Management*

The "Short & Frequent" Rule: Instead of one long 60-minute session, tell them to break practice into three 15-minute sessions throughout the day. This gives the skin a chance to cool down and prevents the friction from turning into a blister.

*Stop Before It Hurts:* If they feel a burning sensation or deep tenderness, they must stop immediately. Pushing through the pain at this stage breaks the skin and sets back their progress by a week.

*Physical Protection & Technique*

The Liquid Bandage Shield: Before practicing, they can apply a layer of liquid bandage (paper tape from medical shop) over the fingertip. This acts as a temporary, synthetic callus that takes the brunt of the string friction.

*Keep Hands Dry Before Playing:* Never practice right after washing dishes, taking a shower, or swimming. Soft, hydrated skin shreds instantly against metal strings.

*Watch the Left Hand Angle:* Ensure they are pressing the frets using the correct part of the fingertip, avoiding unnecessary sliding or dragging with excessive downward pressure. They only need enough pressure to stop the string cleanly.
