Tech Rider Requirements for Concerts

Tech Rider:


Sound System:
  • Minimum two tops and minimum two monitors with separate auxiliaries. 
  • For sitar line out Pickup mic / Contact Mic (mono/stereo). with separate auxiliaries.
  • Another SM-58 / SM-57 for Sitar. 
  • Three Small Microphone Stands to which the microphones will be attached.
  • Phantom Power Supply for Condenser Microphones / Adapter Microphones.
  • For Tabla SM-58 with short boom stand and separate auxiliaries.
  • One hand mic for introductory speech or vocal demonstration. 
  • Power extension on stage for plugging in electronic tanpura / power input for video recorder.

 The line out from all of the above should eventually connect to the main speakers as well as monitors.
Stage Arrangement:
Musicians on stage:
 1. Sitarist
 2. Tabla Player
 3. Tanpura Player
On the stage, raisers are to be provided as mentioned below:
One raiser approx 10'X10' OR 12'x12' that can accommodate three musicians along with their instruments. 
The platform for performance (raiser / dais) should be covered with a presentable and clean carpet / cover for the performers to sit.
 No one should walk on this using foot-wear.
Off Stage Arrangement:
 Minimum one green room with washroom with the following facilities:
 1. A big carpet or equivalent to accommodate at least seven people to sit with Sitar, Tabla and Tanpura. (MUST)
2. In the auditorium, there should be mechanism to allow video recording.
 3. The sound engineer should be present during the entire duration of the performance with attention.

Rare Raga And Raga Prakar Master List

Raga Reference Project ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ ------- Article#1: Raga Master List Raga Reference is the project taken up for creation of online resource for details on the Achhop (Rare) ragas and Raga Prakars (types) of Hindustani Classical Music. The requirement for such a portal was felt long back.  Information that is available on this subject in the public domain is extremely rare.  As the very first step of the project, here is the consolidation of all the ragas to be discussed in this forum. Different Sitar Gharanas

All the Gharanas are mentioned except Etawah Gharana and Maihar Gharana - which are treated as the most prominent Sitar Gharanas today. There are several articles available on Internet on these two Gharanas and Maestros. Jaipur Sitar Gharana Bahadur Sen, son of legendary Masit Khan used to stay in Jaipur and continued to play Sitar. They used to use title ‘Sen’ after their names as they claimed themselves to be descendants of Miyan Taan Sen, i.e. member of Senia Gharana. Masit Khan’s nephew, Dulha Khan was n extraordinary Sitarist of his time. Rahim Sen,  son of Sukh Sen, the ‘mul-purush’ of Senia Gharana , married the daughter of Dulha Khan. Rahim Sen got talim from both, father Sukh Sen and father-in-law Dulha Khan. Rahim Sen and his brother Hussain Khan were very popular Sitarists of their time.
