Shri Ramprapanna Bhattacharya, is one of India’s distinguished sitar and surbahar maestros and a leading exponent of his generation from the celebrated Etawah (Imdadkhani) Gharana. With over three and a half decades of dedicated pursuit of Indian classical music, he represents a rich lineage that traces through his father, Pandit Ram Udar Bhattacharya, and Pt. Kashinath Mukherjee & Pt Arvind Parikh - eminent disciples of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan.
Shri Bhattacharya has performed at some of India’s most prestigious music festivals and institutions, including the Dover Lane Music Conference, Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroha, Sangeet Natak Akademi, NCPA Mumbai, and Rasika Ranjani Sabha, Chennai. He has also been featured as a speaker-performer at the globally renowned TEDx platform, sharing the beauty and relevance of Indian classical music with international audiences. His artistry has earned him numerous honors, including the prestigious Kaustuv Samman from Banaras Hindu University, one of India’s foremost centers of learning and culture. He contributed as the board of studies in the music department of University of Hyderabad.
